We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

2. Information we collect
Information you give us. If you email us, call us, or message us on WhatsApp, we receive your name, contact details and whatever you choose to tell us. If you donate, the payment is handled by PayPal on PayPal's own pages; PayPal may share with us your name, email address, donation amount, selected program and, where you provide it, your mailing address, so that we can acknowledge your gift and keep our records.
Information collected automatically. When you visit this website, and where you have agreed to it (or where the law does not require your agreement), Google Analytics and Google Ads tags collect technical and usage information such as your approximate location, device and browser type, the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, and whether a visit led to a donation click. What we do not collect. We do not see or store your card or bank details. We do not sell personal information.
3. How we use information
- To respond to your enquiries and to acknowledge and record donations, including issuing receipts.
- To operate, secure and improve this website.
- To measure how people find and use the site and to measure and improve our online advertising, including our Google Ad Grants campaigns.
- To meet legal, tax and nonprofit reporting obligations, and to protect our organization and the people we serve.
4. Our legal bases
Where data protection law requires a legal basis (for example the EU/UK GDPR or Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019), we rely on: your consent (for analytics and advertising cookies); our legitimate interests in running our charity and website and responding to you; steps needed to process a donation or reply to a request; and legal obligations such as tax record-keeping.

- PayPal, which processes donations under its own terms and privacy statement.
- Google, through Google Analytics and Google Ads, to measure website use and advertising performance, and Google Firebase, which hosts this website.
- Our consent-management provider, which records your cookie choices.
- Professional advisers and authorities where required by law, or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell your personal information or share it for third-party marketing.
6. International transfers
We operate in the United States and Kenya, and our service providers (including Google and PayPal) process data in other countries too. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
7. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Donation and accounting records are kept for as long as applicable tax and nonprofit record-keeping laws require. Messages you send us are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request and any follow-up.
8. Security
This website is served over HTTPS. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no online service can be guaranteed completely secure.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us for access to your personal information, to correct or delete it, to object to or restrict certain uses, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time (withdrawing consent does not affect earlier processing). To exercise these rights, email info@shiningstarcentrecorp.org. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority, for example the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya, or your local authority in the EU/UK. We do not sell personal information, including for the purposes of California privacy law.
10. Children
This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through it.
11. Photos and stories of the people we serve
We share photographs and stories to show our work. If you, or a child in your care, appear on this website and you would like an image or story changed or removed, email info@shiningstarcentrecorp.org and we will act on your request promptly.

Our website links to third-party sites (including PayPal and social media platforms). We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
